Otis Goodwin Jr

My Bio

I was born...I really was, in Columbia, S.C. I am the oldest of 7 kids. I liked being alone, as you can guess with all the brothers and sisters, and so I started daydreaming early. From the time I was 5, I dreamed of being on television. Because of my parents, I inherited the ability to sing. Because of television, I learned to be funny and to be different than who I was in life.  In other words, I learned to act.

I left home at 19 to join the Air Force and became a part of an Air Force entertainment group called Tops in Blue. During my time with Tops in Blue, I was a performer at the Super Bowl 19 halftime show. It was also during my time in the Air Force that I started my 40+ years of performing live theater.

Some of my stage highlights include "Smokey Joe's Cafe", which had the absolute best music composed by Leiber and Stoller; "The Fantastiks", I played El Gallo, at the Ice House in Visalia,CA and it was great for me because I got to work with my father-in-law who directed it; "Curtains" at the Western Stage in Salinas, CA. I played Aaron Fox, composer; "Sister Act" in Carmel, CA where I played the villlainous Curtis; and "Beauty and the Beast" in Carmel, CA where I played Maurice, Belle's father.

I am taking Improv classes with Monterey Improv.  I am an avid golfer, love to sing karaoke, and am a Zumba instructor.
